Not every star of GTA 6's second reveal was human. PC Gamer's animal-by-animal look at the May 2025 trailer and screenshots called out "trash pandas" among the wildlife tucked into the frame, and aggregate lists like gtabase's log the raccoon as an officially sighted species.
Raccoons (Procyon lotor) are as Floridian as gators, just less glamorous: they raid campsites in the Keys, panhandle boldly in state parks, and swim better than most people expect — in mangrove country they're practically semi-aquatic. Their famous "washing" behavior is really tactile foraging; a raccoon's forepaws are packed with nerve endings that work best wet. In a state where everything edible is fair game, they thrive from the Everglades to downtown dumpsters.
Rockstar players already know raccoons from Red Dead Redemption 2, where they were a full huntable species with day-night behavior. GTA 5 never had them — its urban wildlife was basically seagulls — so raccoons nosing through Leonida's garbage would be a small but telling upgrade in how alive the world feels, whether up in the Mount Kalaga backwoods or behind a Vice City strip mall. For the full sweep of the state they roam, see our GTA 6 map guide.
