Brian Heder is a supporting character in Grand Theft Auto VI, revealed by Rockstar alongside the rest of the extended cast that accompanied GTA VI Trailer 2 in May 2025. His official Rockstar bio leans into his history in the Florida Keys' criminal past: "a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys," who is "still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori," and who has "been around long enough to let others do his dirty work." That last detail is central to how Rockstar frames him — a smuggler who has graduated from doing the risky work himself to directing other people through it.
PC Gamer's character breakdown singles Brian out as the side character with the most screen time in the second trailer, and connects him directly to Jason Duval: the small house Jason is shown fixing up early in the trailer belongs to Brian, who lets Jason live there rent-free in exchange for help with his ongoing criminal operations. That landlord-tenant arrangement, tangled up with debt and obligation, is the clearest confirmed link between Brian and the two protagonists so far.
Role in the story
Rockstar's own character copy also ties Brian to Cal Hampton, describing Cal as "a fellow associate of Brian's" in his own official bio — meaning the show's two most prominent Keys-set side characters are established as already connected before the story's events. Beyond the rent arrangement with Jason and the tie to Cal, Rockstar has not detailed how large a role Brian plays in the wider criminal conspiracy that drives the plot, so his full arc remains unconfirmed.
What the trailers show
Brian appears repeatedly in GTA VI Trailer 2, shown at his boat yard and around his Keys property in the footage Rockstar released in May 2025. Fan speculation about his voice actor has circulated widely, including an AllKeyShop report noting that some fans believe character actor Stephen Root voices him based on similarities heard in the trailer — Rockstar has not confirmed this, and it should be read strictly as unofficial speculation rather than fact.
