Will GTA 6 Have Crossplay?

Unconfirmed. Rockstar has not said whether GTA 6 will support crossplay between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. No trailer, Newswire post, store listing, or press statement has addressed cross-platform play as of this writing — the honest answer right now is that nobody outside Rockstar knows.

What Rockstar has actually said: nothing

Every official GTA 6 platform reference — the trailers, the November 19, 2026 release date announcement, and the pre-order pages — confirms PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as the launch platforms and stops there. None of them mention crossplay, cross-progression, or shared servers between the two consoles. Since GTA 6 launches single-player only with no online mode detailed yet, there's currently no online component for crossplay to even apply to — the question is really about a hypothetical future online mode.

Why the precedent points against crossplay (not a guarantee)

Rockstar's history with online multiplayer is the main evidence people point to, and it consistently shows separate platform pools rather than shared ones:

• GTA Online, running continuously since 2013, has never added crossplay. PS5, Xbox, and PC players remain on entirely separate servers over 12 years later.
• Red Dead Online allows play across same-family hardware — PS4 players can play with PS5 players, and Xbox One with Xbox Series X|S — but there is no crossplay between PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Rockstar has also wound down major Red Dead Online updates, with no indication crossplay was ever planned.

Neither of Rockstar's two major online games has shipped full cross-platform play at any point in their history. That's a strong pattern, but it's a pattern from Rockstar's past titles — not a statement about GTA 6, which uses newer engine technology and launches into a games industry where crossplay has become far more standard (Fortnite, Call of Duty, Rocket League, and many others all support it by default now). What would crossplay even mean for GTA 6 right now

Because GTA 6 has no PS4, Xbox One, or PC version at launch (see is GTA 6 coming to PS4 or Xbox One and is GTA 6 coming to PC), the only crossplay question that currently applies is PS5-to-Xbox Series X|S — a much narrower question than crossplay conversations around most other big multiplatform games, which usually also have to account for PC and older consoles.
