Twitch CEO Predicts GTA 6 Online Launch in 2027

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy gave the first concrete timing estimate for a GTA 6 online mode on September 17, 2026, telling Bloomberg during an interview at Tokyo Game Show that he expects Rockstar's multiplayer component to arrive in 2027 — about a year after GTA 6's November 19, 2026 single-player launch.

Clancy's exact line, as reported by Bloomberg and multiple outlets: "You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer." He said the estimate comes from having "spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans" — insider-adjacent knowledge rather than a Rockstar statement, but notable given Twitch's stake in tracking major game launches for streaming traffic.

Why it's notable, and why it's still unofficial

Rockstar has consistently declined to discuss a GTA 6 online mode. As covered in our GTA 6 Online guide, Take-Two told investors on its August 7, 2026 earnings call that it wasn't planning to address online-mode timing "anytime soon," and GTA 6 itself is being marketed strictly as "a single-player experience" at launch. Clancy's comment is the first time anyone with direct access to Rockstar has attached a specific year to a multiplayer launch — but it remains a third-party prediction, not a Rockstar confirmation, and Rockstar has not corroborated it.

For comparison, GTA Online itself launched about two weeks after GTA V's September 2013 release, not a full year later — so a 2027 window, if accurate, would be a longer gap than last time.

Rockstar hasn't confirmed a GTA 6 online mode exists, named it, described its features, or given any release window of its own.
