All GTA 6 Trailers, Explained

Every official GTA 6 trailer so far — Trailer 1 (Dec 2023) and Trailer 2 (May 2025) — plus the Extended Look premiering on Netflix August 27, 2026.

Rockstar has released two official GTA 6 trailers so far: Trailer 1 on December 5, 2023, and Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. A new video, Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, premieres on Netflix on August 27, 2026, ahead of a YouTube release the same day. For the full sequence of events, see the complete GTA 6 story so far.

Trailer 1 — December 5, 2023 (the reveal)

Rockstar had scheduled Trailer 1 for a YouTube premiere at 9:00 AM EST on December 5, 2023. A leaked, lower-quality copy spread online less than 16 hours early, so Rockstar pushed the official version out around 6:00 PM EST on December 4, 2023 to get ahead of the leak.

What it revealed:

Impact: it broke multiple Guinness World Records for most-viewed video game reveal trailer, hitting roughly 46 million views on its first day and over 93 million within 24 hours.

Grand Theft Auto VI — Trailer 1 (Rockstar Games)

Trailer 2 — May 6, 2025 (gameplay and cast)

Released around 9:30 PM EST on May 6, 2025, over a year after the delay to the release date was first announced.

What it revealed:

Impact: over 475 million views across platforms within 24 hours, with the YouTube upload alone reaching roughly 84 million views in the same period — making it, by most measures, the biggest game trailer debut ever at the time.

Grand Theft Auto VI — Trailer 2 (Rockstar Games)

Extended Look — premiering August 27, 2026

On August 6, 2026, Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, premiering on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET, in what Netflix called "a first-of-its-kind partnership" with Rockstar. The video hits Rockstar's own YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI site six hours later, at 9:00 PM ET the same day, so nobody needs a Netflix subscription to eventually see it.

Rockstar hasn't formally called this a numbered "Trailer 3," and it's not yet confirmed whether it will play as a traditional cinematic trailer or a longer, documentary-style look at game systems and the world of Leonida. For the announcement itself, see our news post.

Unverified footage from an unofficial leaker began circulating online on August 18, 2026, nine days ahead of the premiere; Take-Two responded with federal subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord seeking the source's identity, and a judge granted both subpoenas on August 21. See our report for details — none of that leaked material is confirmed or covered here. On August 26, Rockstar addressed the leaks directly in an Instagram statement, calling them "heartbreaking" and confirming the clips were genuine footage.
