Take-Two Interactive held its 2026 Annual Meeting of Stockholders on Thursday, September 17, 2026, and CEO Strauss Zelnick used shareholder Q&A to make the company's most direct statement yet on how GTA 6 will monetize at launch: it won't.
Asked what plans were in place for recurrent consumer spending in Rockstar's upcoming title, Zelnick said: "We're launching GTA 6 as a single player experience on two major platforms, and therefore there's no recurrent consumer spending anticipated with regard to this launch." That confirms no microtransactions, in-game currency, or live-service spending in the November 19, 2026 release — consistent with Rockstar's existing "single-player experience" language, but now stated in explicit financial terms by Take-Two's CEO rather than inferred from marketing copy.
Zelnick was also asked about the current GTA Online, and said it "continues to be a robust business for us" that Take-Two will keep supporting — reiterating, in blunter language, the point Take-Two made on its August 7, 2026 earnings call that GTA Online and Red Dead Online remain part of the business regardless of GTA 6's launch.
On a GTA 6 PC version, Zelnick repeated that the PC platform is "becoming more and more important" to Take-Two but again gave no date or commitment, saying "more specific marketing information will, of course, come from Rockstar Games." That leaves the PC release exactly where it stood before the meeting: expected eventually, unannounced for now.
The meeting wasn't entirely smooth for Zelnick. A shareholder question, read aloud by Zelnick himself per company process, asked whether the board still believed the current management team was right to lead Take-Two given years of delays and reliance on a small number of franchises. Zelnick responded that Take-Two's board is "exceedingly diligent and rigorous" and would replace management if it didn't perform — a notable exchange, but not a change to any product plan.
Nothing here alters the confirmed basics: GTA 6 still launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only, at the previously announced $79.99/$99.99 pricing. The news is Take-Two putting its clearest language yet, on the record at an official shareholder meeting, behind two points that were previously more implied than stated: no launch-day monetization beyond the box price, and no change to GTA Online's status as an ongoing, separately supported product.
